Indialantic is the most clearly defined and pleasant of
the Melbourne Beaches communities, occupying one compact and tidy
square mile. Its backbone is the impressive sounding Fifth Avenue,
which is actually an unassuming commercial zone that is anything
but overpriced. As for its oceanfront, Indialantic embraces 1-1/2
miles of beach whose understated appeal centers around several
excellent beachfront parks. And there you have the main draw of
the town-grab some towels and a cooler and head for the beach.

The first of Indialantic's wonderful oceanfront
parks is Canova Beach, located at the northern end of the town.
For a paltry fee of $1.00, you can swim, sunbathe, and body surf
the day away. The park's amenities include restrooms, picnic tables
and showers. To the south, James Nance Park is conveniently located
in the heart of town. Ample metered parking spaces and a concrete
municipal boardwalk are available, as well as lifeguards, restrooms,
picnic tables and showers. In addition, the park has the added
appeal of being close to numerous restaurants and local watering holes. Half a mile south is Paradise Beach Park,
a nicely-landscaped county park with a picnic area, a large parking
lot, and a nominal self-pay entrance fee of $1.00.
